Today, we remember what Jesus did for us on the Cross.  We are so thankful!

Kill the Spider | Week 4 - Weapons of War

Many of us are great at small victories.  We have struggles here and there and make a decision to win a particular battle.  If we are not careful, we will celebrate the success and victory over identifying our spiders and then taking a shot at them.

We will have victory this one day. 
We will wound the enemy
We will stop the damaging activity today…
But the war is not over…

Weapons of war is all about the long-term battle to kill our spiders. In essence, it comes down to belief.

In order to find our spiders, we have to turn on the lights and turn off the noise.  The issue of our value and worth was settled on the cross when Jesus said, "It is finished."

Kill the Spider | Week 1 - Spiders don't exist

In this series, we will explore the lies or agreements that we have made with ourselves that result in symptoms of brokenness, bitterness, and despair.  We end up temporarily quieting the voices in our heads and the longing in our hearts with outbursts of anger, escape into addiction, and/or erotic behavior.  These activities create “cobwebs” that we clear by self-help books, meditation and yoga, accountability meetings, and religious activities.  The only way to truly rid our lives of what’s affecting us is to KILL THE SPIDER.  The spider is always a lie.  The spider is always an agreement with the enemy.  Until we acknowledge it, recognize it, and kill it with forgiveness and love, we will always find ourselves clearing the cobwebs.  Let’s lock arms with those around us as we kill our spiders.

In week 8 of our BASICS series, we see our tendency to need a reminder to stay on course.  If we want God to show up, we need to ASK him.

In week 7 of BASICS, we will go back to the basics of generosity.  As a believer, it is natural to give back. Once you realize what Jesus did for you and it really sinks in – you cannot help but be generous.  You cannot help but serve others.
